 About Worship at the Wharf
Worship at the Wharf was a designed to give Christians the opportunity to respond to the oil spill crisis in the Gulf of Mexico. The event included worship, prayer, and giving. The event was to be held Sunday, August 15 at The Wharf amphitheatre in Orange Beach, Alabama, but torrential rains and lightning moved the event down the road to Christian Life Church. More than 2,000 people packed into the facility, approximately 35 people became followers of Christ, 200+ people volunteered, $10,000+ was given to help others, 53 churches from multiple denominations participated, and literally thousands of prayers were prayed for the Gulf Coast!

Church to Church Project
A Way to Directly Help Those in Need

The best entity or organization that can provide ongoing assistance to those most affected by the recent oil spill are local churches. Local churches are best suited because: (1) they personally know those living in their community, (2) they have been directly helping individuals and families in their communities for years, (3) they are accustomed to meeting the spiritual and physical needs of people, and (4) they aren't leaving the area!

The oil spill crisis has greatly affected local churches along the coast however. Many churches weekly receipts are down 40%. Programs that have provided benevolent assistance for years are struggling to survive. Pastors who are desiring to reach those who are most affected by the spill are facing unchartered obstacles. Many ministers are pleading for help, but help simply has been sporadic. For example, one pastor in Gulf Shores, Alabama recently stated "I have never dealt with anything like this in twenty plus years of ministry . . . We need help!"

Because of these kinds of pleas, we have started a simple program that will help local churches and those living in their community. The program is called "Church to Church."
